FAITH IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT

Today I was in a gathering where we talked about the power of thoughts which gradually entered into the faith topic. I realized just how faith is one of the most discussed subjects and yet the least practiced in our time. YES. Practice is what I just said. practice in the sense that faith requires repetition (not trail and error because it never fails), it becomes an attitude that is perfected through continuous use and its application expands in relation to the understanding of the man who consistently operates by it.

Hold on, before you start getting it twisted I have just talked about thoughts and faith which are two separate things but commonly mixed up. Thinking about something doesn’t mean you have faith, it doesn’t even matter how hard you think about it, it remains a thought which could either be creative or destructive depending on the physical manifestation of such thoughts. We will look into thoughts another time but first I have to share with you some amazing things I heard today.

What is faith?  ‘’Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen’’ Hebrews 11:1. Now you might say ‘’why define it by the scripture?’’ well scripture is the source of faith and it explains the idea better than what anyone has come up with. Faith is real and a substance, which means it can be the material you lay claim on from within your spirit, it is the essential thing that you desire and the evidence, fact or proof of having the things that you want but haven’t yet seen. Faith is a character, it is not passive. Faith is the demonstration of believe and the response of the human spirit to the word of God. The basis of your faith in anything must originate from the word of God concerning your desire. For instance, you cannot have faith in say a subject in a college text book or a new government policy, faith comes to you as a response of God’s word for your life, family, job, business, marriage, children e.t.c.

Imagine this child, a girl who had been confined to a wheelchair for a long time by an ailment and was brought by her parents to a healing service, at the time the minister walked up to pray for her she was set to jump out of her chair in readiness to run knowing that she would not return home in that chair and as she felt the anointing on her she jumped up and ran as far as her small legs could carry. Faith is a (deliberate) readiness of mind and spirit. Like this child you must be ready to picture what, where and how you want your life to be with all readiness to jump as the word of God comes with solution. it is you trusting God enough to always show up for you without the slightest doubt in your heart.

Most remarkably is the story of a young lady years ago who after passing jamb exams wished to enroll in the University of Lagos, she wrote the entrance exam but didn’t quite make the required score so her name was not on the admission list, refusing to let depression set in, she started attending lectures in the University, wrote test, submitted assignment and filled attendance sheets like she was a student. She wouldn’t give up but went frequently to check the admission board, then just a few weeks to school exams her name was published in one of the lists and she graduated from the same university. Faith doesn’t fail or quit in the face of uncertainties. Faith has a goal in mind and is undeterred. Hebrews 11: 4 – 11 described people of old who through faith obtained God’s promises, take time to study for yourself then emulate the attitude of these great men and women. Note that men of faith have been considered from time memorial as mad men but these ones produced lasting testimonies.

Faith always works, if you have not seen result(s) to what you desire in your life do not be confounded, hold on to that desire like your life depends on it, speak to God about it and very soon the result will come, it always does. But remember faith is not passive it has to be demonstrated by your actions like the child in readiness to take that step. when you mean it then you will have answers.

Have you at any time demonstrated your faith in God? Comment on how you did it and what results you got.

THE GOSPEL IN REVERSE

Its early this morning and am in this vehicle heading to Victoria Island, a man who had joined the bus as we pulled out from the bus stop started with hymns and praises to God, he sang well and had a good number of songs so I flow along and mentally shake my head to the melody of the tune, anticipating to hear a good message to end the singing session. oh boy was i wrong. Although wasn’t so bad though but I think on a fine day if he were selling a product I needed badly, I wouldn’t feel the need to buy from him. I believe in God and I like being attentive to everyone that preaches. Because God is so big I could learn something new and see something of Him from an entirely perspective, so I listen (which is good, most of you don’t). I also have unreserved respect for those who commit time to preach while commuting, it shows just how passionate they are about evangelism and it is one of the many opportunities to reach out to new people every day.   "God loves you and...

MUCH ADO ABOUT BOO

It’s a thing of wonder to look in my darling’s eyes and see just how beautiful He is. His soft brown eyes radiate warmth and kindness, he is a rarity among men and it gladdens my heart so, to know he belongs only to me. Some calm days, I get lost in thought of him, oh how excited I become to hear his soothing voice minutes as I think of Him and this happens always. Sometimes I think we are so connected no distance is too long to communicate straight to our hearts. You see, I have a mind with wild imaginations, sometimes I wonder if I reside in fantasy land more than normal. Now, I imagine being in a wonderful garden somewhere, anywhere in the world, maybe even as far as Kazakhstan..it sounds really far, if they have the wonderful garden I now picture in my head then its fine, I envisage I am with Him, sitting under a big oak tree, having a picnic and enjoying the warmth of a sunny day. We have lots to eat, ice-cream to counter the heat, candies to munch as we tell hilario...

WHY YOU MUST WRITE A WILL EVEN IF YOU ARE YOUNG

A re you a young Nigerian man with these listed earthly conditions, I have to ask you a serious question. you have a wife you have children you have something worthy of transfer; Cash, financial assets, real estate, insurance, family heirloom, etc Have you made your will?  Oh; come on now I am not suggesting your death is anywhere close, God forbid. But we can both agree the world is no longer as it was, it has become smaller which is a great thing and the number of things that can kill you has gone past "A thousand ways to die". Let's consider a few trending options of dying; a strange virus (yup, it hasn't gone away yet), Stress from emotional and physical tension which is the leading cause of death in recent times, getting poisoned by a frenemy at a bar, get kidnapped with no ransom, get in a relationship with a murderous psycho, choke on chewing gum as you gossip, etc. I should probably not add to the tension as you read this but you get the drift....we are all ...
